I thought I would finally write a small update.
I have been back for just over 3 weeks following my surgery. I am doing very well and already seeing the positive results. I am still very sore, but tiredness is passing and I feel stronger with each day. I am allowing another 3 weeks before any lifting, so no gum or cyanotype printing until then. I am brushing up on theory for now and planning a few little projects, bust most importantly I am collecting my energy for the better, more healthier part of my life, which is just around the corner.

My first Gum efforts... A truly enjoyable process, I can really see myself getting serious with it in  future. For now, I am rushing off to finally have my heart fixed and hopefully I should be back in action within 6 to 8 weeks. See you on the other side!

A start of an interesting new project - body landscapes.

My today's research into the world of abject art lead me from Viennese Actionists with artists like Otto Muehl and Gunter Brus to the Chinese baby eating performer Zhu Yu. The latter somehow linked me to the video below, which undoubtably cannot be called art, but nevertheless is an interesting watch. It certainly underlines the cultural differences between the East and the West.

Today I've created a couple of 'body projections' with the use of some landscape shots taken during my afternoon walk.

I haven't been absolutely useless during the month of February. I have to admit, I haven't read much, as I have been sleeping a lot, but I have managed to complete a small personal project, I have started some experimentations with using cyanotypes on alternative materials and I even managed to get to National Portrait Gallery to see David Bailey's 'Stardust' (totally worth the visit!).

Today, I will present my little personal project - You take my breath away. This project focuses on my illness and its overwhelming influence on my everyday life. I thought that such important part of me deserves a little more attention than just the odd complaint or a whinge.
The project is separated into three parts - the physical pain, the illnesses direct influence on my daily life and the psychological experience the illness often presents.  I believe this project will lead to a creation of a more specific body of work concentrating purely on pain and maybe even only on the experience of migraine (pic1).
